Olivia Orencia Chicago IL Obituary, Social Worker at UW Health and Agrace Hospice has died
Olivia “Liv” Maria Orencia, a beloved daughter, devoted fiancée, treasured sister, and compassionate friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 29. She was surrounded by the love of her family and closest friends after a brief but devastating battle with an aggressive brain tumor.
Born on December 3, 1996, Olivia was raised in Algonquin, Illinois, where her vibrant personality and love for performing became evident from an early age. She began dancing shortly after she learned to walk, captivating family and friends with her energy, confidence, and natural charisma. Whether performing a dance routine in the living room or making people laugh with her infectious humor, Olivia brought light and joy wherever she went.
As the eldest of three children, Olivia embraced her role as a big sister with pride and love. She shared an especially close bond with her younger sister, Elise, spending countless hours creating dances, playing games, and making memories together. When her brother Adam was born several years later, Olivia adored him from the start, becoming a caring and protective sibling. Their family—parents Amy and Manny, Olivia, Elise, and Adam—formed a close-knit unit that cherished traveling, playing board games, exploring new places, and simply enjoying one another’s company.
Olivia excelled throughout her school years, balancing academics with an impressive dedication to dance and athletics. At Jacobs High School in Algonquin, she danced on the varsity dance team all four years, helping lead the program to continued success at the state level. Her achievements in the classroom earned her admission to the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she would discover both her professional calling and the love of her life.
Initially pursuing mathematics, Olivia soon realized her true passion was helping others. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2019 and completed her Master of Social Work degree in 2020. While at UW–Madison, she was an active member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, choreographed the Humorology charity dance show, and coached through the Universal Dance Association. Her younger sister Elise later followed in her footsteps to Madison, strengthening their already unbreakable bond.
Olivia began her professional career as a social worker at UW Health University Hospital during the height of the global pandemic. She quickly became a fierce advocate for her patients and a trusted source of comfort for families navigating illness and loss. In February 2026, she joined Agrace Hospice Care as a Palliative Social Worker, a role she embraced wholeheartedly and with great excitement.
In the spring of 2021, Olivia met John Moroney, a fellow Badger, on a dating app. What began with a missed dinner reservation blossomed into an extraordinary love story. Olivia stood by John’s side through multiple serious health challenges, advocating tirelessly for him and caring for him with unwavering devotion. Their love deepened with every challenge they faced together.
On March 21, 2026, John proposed to Olivia in Giddings Park, one of their favorite places in Madison. They joyfully began planning their wedding for July 24, 2027, looking forward to celebrating their future with family and friends.
Just months later, Olivia was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Though her illness progressed rapidly, she remained surrounded by love until her final moments.
Olivia is survived by her parents, Amy and Manny Orencia; her siblings, Elise and Adam; her fiancé, John Moroney; and her beloved dog, Sanders. She also leaves behind countless friends, patients, coworkers, and loved ones whose lives she touched through her compassion, strength, and radiant spirit.
No matter how difficult life became, Olivia always looked toward the light. She loved sunshine and would often exclaim with joy, “Oh, the sun!”
Her warmth, kindness, and boundless love will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
