The New Brunswick emergency services community is mourning the unexpected and untimely passing of Bryan Harris, affectionately known to many as “B-Y,” whose decades of service, leadership, and compassion left an enduring impact on colleagues, friends, and the countless lives he helped behind the scenes.

Bryan dedicated 28 years of his life to Ambulance New Brunswick as a 911 Dispatcher, serving with unwavering professionalism and calm during some of the most critical moments in people’s lives. His commitment extended beyond his role as a dispatcher. For the past decade, he served as Vice President of Local 4848 and most recently as Treasurer of CUPE 1252, advocating tirelessly for his fellow workers and strengthening the emergency services community he loved.

News of Bryan’s passing has sparked an overwhelming outpouring of grief and support throughout New Brunswick. In the hours after word spread, black mourning ribbons representing Ambulance NB began appearing across social media—a quiet but powerful symbol of respect for a man whose influence reached far beyond his workplace.

She shared how Bryan was known as “the Big Brother” to her husband Kevin and was the person she turned to whenever she needed help.
